While on my runs

Worked together in the garden

This morning I spent a couple of hours removing tradescantiafrom the northwestern side of the property. It's a narrow space beteen the side of the house and the edge of our land. The boundary is sort of delineated by a line marked with bricks. Intermittently there are old railway sleepers actually marking the boundary. On the neighbour's side of the boundary are many Ponga, and Nikau and a few native trees. That provides an effective barrier to all but the most adventurous smallish person. Currently, none is in either that house, or ours.

This afternoon S and I worked together: me to freshen the soil in the short planters between the large poles in the retaining wall; S to plant herbs, beans, and other plants. I also spent a little energy on weeding the upper level where the roses co-exist with tomatoes. The latter are about to be planted, and last year did excellently. The roses can be seen better if the photo is large.

Four days ago, Blip Central noted that I had reached 5,110 photos, which marks 14 consecutive 365 day postings. My number one blip was taken on  25 November 2010, and therefore today's photo completes 14 calendar years without missing a day..
