The 62 is 62
Our Morris Minor 1000 was first registered here in Christchurch on the 23rd November 1962, so today is its 62nd birthday. We are the 3rd owners. It was first sold in 1980 from a deceased estate, and I purchased it in 1996 from another deceased estate. Sounds a bit ominous. Anyway, it gets a lot of thumbs up as we drive it around, and dozens of people want to tell me that they learned to drive in one of these or they owned one as their first car. My first car in 1972 was a 1960 Morris Minor, and I have always been attracted to them. Over 1.6 million of these cars were produced, and 70,000 were sent to New Zealand. More per capita than any other country in the world.
