Returning

I started the day with a call with VG, then decided to make the most of what might be our last day of clear sunny weather and went over to have a walk in the Pentlands. I parked at the Flotterstone Inn as usual and walked up and round Glencorse Reservoir. The path and fences have been upgraded since I was last here and all looked very tidy, and there were only a few people around enjoying the cold bright weather. It was lovely to be out in the hills (although I didn’t go up them) and I walked just long enough to finish listening to Rivers in the Sky, the Elif Shafak book so it was very fitting to finish this - about water throughout - at this location. I rewarded myself with a morning roll and coffee at the lovely little cafe by the car park then came home.
I’d thought to go back into to town to return something I bought the other day but decided to stay home, do some ironing and a bit more baking too, then had a call with LJ followed by a longer one with SC and PR about fundraising which was interesting.
Made myself an omelette for supper then wrapped up and walked over to the Usher Hall to see Scottish Opera’s Puccini Collection concert (extra)…kind of the greatest hits of arias. I chatted hospitably to the MSPs I was seated next to and did the necessary shmoozing at the interval reception, and as always enjoyed watching the individual members of the orchestra, especially those who aren’t playing all the time like the harpist, the trombonists and some of the percussion players. Singers were excellent, especially the soprano.
Brisk walk home… I’m wondering what weather I’ll be waking to, given all the snow and storm warnings.
