A very Birdy day
We went to Heritage Harbor Park in Bradenton for our walk today. I find it interesting that there seems to be some kind of body of water at every park or preserve we visit in our area... a river, a bay, a man-made lake, or a pond. At this park it's a lake that's a mile and a half all the way around.
The good news is, because of the prevelance of water we often see many birds. Today there were so many different kinds of birds hanging out together. Great white egrets & little blue herons (some were white/immature). A couple of Great Blue herons, some Florida mottled ducks, a huge flock of Terns diving/fishing in the middle of the lake. I saw a glossy black Ibis and lots of white ones with their curved red beaks. My photo today shows an Anhinga (snake bird) and a Woodstork enjoying each other's company next to the edge of the lake. At another point in our walk we saw a dozen Anhingas swimming in the water with just their long necks and heads above water. Not to mention some regular Grackles and a Palm warbler!
It was a very Birdy day, making it such an enjoyable walk. I'm not sure if the cooler weather had something to do with it, but it was nice being treated to such a huge variety of birds! I hope your day brought you some delights as well... drink all that goodness in. ;o)
