Hover fly enjoying an Allium
Another glorious day today with warm, dry weather all day. Consequently the bees, wasps and hoverflies were out in force. While trying to capture a bee on the Allium, which would not stay still for a second, this hover fly landed and started to get tucked into the flower.
It seems to grasp the part of the flower it is after with its two front legs and hold it while it uses its tongue to get the pollen or nectar.
