Last of the Autumn colour

As today was forecast to be sunny I decided to visit Woodbury Castle with a friend first thing this morning.  It was fairly cold but the sun was out and we went first to the beech trees within the castle (Iron Age fort).  There were a few trees still with some colour in the leaves but the majority were on the ground.  Patches of frost and ice remained but were rapidly melting.  We then wandered around the nearby woodland where I took this shot of the colourful leaves peaking through the trees.  It was a beautiful morning with various people out walking dogs and enjoying the sun.  We even spotted another member of the camera club who had also chosen to visit this area.

I returned home for lunch and spent the rest of the day editing photos for the presentation.  In the evening it was Camera Club with a judge for the competition.  I must get round to thinking about entering competitions again there always seems so much else to do.
