ANOTHER BUSY DAY!
I was out before 8 o’clock this morning and I can tell you it was very cold! I was hoping to reach my target weight today, but it was not to be and although, once again, it was a little disappointing, I am not giving up yet!
In fact, I often remember my dear departed Mother-in-law, Joan, at times like this when she used to say “These little disappointments make up your character, dear!” My late Grandma, another one for giving words of advice, often used to say “Try, try and try again” so that’s what I will be doing this next week and if perchance it doesn’t happen next week, I will try even harder and once again, will not let it spoil my day or my life. I have decided that life is too short to let these little disappointments get me down, so I am going to live life to the full!
I was due to meet my friend, Gill, for coffee, and you won’t need three guesses to find out where we went - yes, it was Jack’s. However, I was also disappointed there, because when I went round to the Ladies, I found that the beautiful picture that I had seen last week and of course, I had taken a photograph - see extra - was missing from the wall. The Ladies is also a Changing area for mothers who need to change their babies - and there were two baskets on the shelf containing nappies and wipes etc marked “Mother and Baby Corner”. When I asked two of the waitresses, who were busy wiping down the shelf etc, where the lovely picture had gone, they said that the person who had put it there thought it “made the place look like a shrine” so had ordered it to be removed. What a shame - you be the judge!
When I went back out into the main area, I did say that I thought it was discrimination against those who were over a certain age, as there was nothing in there for “older ladies” like me! There was some hilarity and discussion then as to what would be needed - but I don’t think that will happen anytime soon! I guess the management didn’t want to offend anyone - but seriously, why are we so afraid of hurting someone’s feelings these days?
Anyway, moving on, and having been thwarted in my search for a Blip, I asked the three waitresses and Keiran to “bunch up” so that I could take their photograph and they willingly obliged - bless them - one of them is off to New York for a few days, so hope she has a great time.
I then realised that Flo, the lovely waitress who gives the best insults in the whole wide world, wasn’t in the shot, so asked her and my friend, Gill, to pose - so they did!
Having taken Gill home, I then took one of the Gorse Hill Bags of Hope to a lady who lived quite near to us and had a lovely chat with her - and gave her one of my little wooden hearts - of course I did!
It was then time to pop over to a nearby Retail Park to get a few Christmas gifts - and Boots came up trumps - with several of them being 3 for 2, so "another job jobbed", as my Grandad used to say.
Whilst in Boots, and when I saw the bottom right shot in my collage, I did think of a lovely Blip friend, who paints her nails every Saturday night - probably while she is watching Strictly - so this one is just for her! If I knew her address, I would have bought the set and sent it to her, but thinking about it, she probably has most of these colours anyway - but the thought was there!
Now back home and Mr. HCB has been busy in the garden again - today he dug up the dahlias and they are now drying off in the greenhouse, before they are wrapped in newspaper and put in the garage to over-winter. That was his only job, apart from cutting some chrysanthemums for me, which are now on the table in the conservatory - well, it saves him buying them!
I understand it is due to rain all day tomorrow and Sunday doesn’t look much better, so stay dry and warm - and watch out for Storm Bert. M xx
