Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

The fun keeps coming!

Another day that deserves the ‘What a day’ title!! Action packed, but not a big step count and not in the sun, always a couple of big plusses for me.

A mention about last night’s dinner. We found a wee cafe, got a great seat outside, and had fun just watching the staff - one old chap and a young fellow taking very good care of everyone. They got really busy, and put more tables and chairs out on the pavement. We both had the best Pad Thai, and then… wait for it - sticky rice, mango and coconut cream. Heavenly!

After breakfast today we got the hotel to organise a tuktuk ride, and we whizzed around the city, seeing some of the familiar sights, but mainly just looking in on peoples’ lives as they busied themselves in this fabulous city. Fascinating. I loved every minute of the two hours. Bangkok is amazing. It’s very tidy - NO litter, and NO potholes!! (Take note, Edinburgh City Council) some grab shots as we whizzed by in Extra.

We then hopped over on the hotel ferry (avoiding huge queues that the general public used - all the posh hotels on the river have their own ferries) to the ginormous glitzy shopping centre, Iconsiam, because we had missed the whole lower floor last time, which is FULL of every edible treat imaginable. And lots unimaginable. We were just AGOG at the fabulously presented food choices! But I did get an ice cream without a lump of sweet potato on it…

We spent an hour or so down at the pool before getting ready for our evening buffet cruise.

And what a cruise it was!! A fantastic buffet and a two and a half hour cruise up then down the river. Lots of boats, many of them loud party boats, but ours was sedate. And, tonight, a firework show!! The treats keep coming.
