Royal botanical gardens
After going to the extremely crowded Tooth Temple, where the art of moving in a queue involving pushing and shoving among locals who were carrying plates of flowers and food. Julian was soon about 30 people behind me…. We abandoned trying to see the tooth of Buddha.
Next the botanical gardens were really good. Trees included elephant foot tree, Java almond ( in the photo) , the Ceylon ironwood, the tamarind tree tree planted on Independence Day in 1948, the coco de Mer palm tree with the hugest fruits in the world that take years to grow, a huge figtree with its branches propped up, orchids , nutmeg tree, clove tree, dead rat tree, and lots more
