A Free-for-all ?

At least , for three anyway. On my walk I passed the body of a feral pigeon in the middle of the road. Coincidentally, my attention was caught by the shenanigans of three feral pigeons on a drive from that street into a property. There was no noise as what seemed to be some sort of struggle involving three feral pigeons continued.

Were two males literally fighting over a female? Was it some sort of play? Or perhaps one male was getting between another male and a female. 

The struggle did not appear to be a life and death struggle. None of the birds tried to leave. None made any noise.

I'd welcome any explanation.
