Sunset swim
Thursday
On paper, a late afternoon tide, reasonable weather forecast and a day scheduled to wfh suggested that today was the best option for me to swim this week. I was fortunate that, at the beginning of the week it looked viable for Marion and Yvonne too. I knew when I woke up that it was chilly and sent messages to solidify the plan before getting out of bed or looking out the window. Already committed, I find a heavy coating of frost when I finally put down my book and look out the window.
Yvonne has reserved the right to not go in the water and I have reserved the right to make it my last swim of the year but we are both grateful to be motivating each other today.
The working day goes as expected. I feel like little is accomplished. The afternoon respite can't come doin enough. Barbara is in the car when I open the gate for my ride. A pleasant addition to the group. We headed to the river and Marion and I are straight in. Yvonne is less enthusiastic but encouraged by Barbara she swims too. Exhilarating, at around 7 or 8 degrees, it is unlikely our last swim of the year.
As we dress the late and low sun lights up the boats.
Refreshed, I head back to my desk.
