Deja Vu?

All but a few days in it 9 months ago we were in the same location for another wake in the Cams Inn near Porchester: https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/3208906689197641055 It’s even the same boat! I think I named the February blip incorrectly as it is not marked as such on the OS Maps.

In February it was for Stella’s dad who was 94 when he died. This time it was for Stella’s husband who was only 72. He had been unwell for many years and simply his body gave up under a multitude of conditions. A bitter sweet event, like it was with Doreen. Inevitable, a release, a loss all the same.

The funeral was at 12.00 and the journey time from Kent should be just over 2 hours. When we got up the sat nav reported an hour’s delay. By the time we set off traffic had calmed and journey time was 2 1/4 hours.

In the end we arrived at the crem with 40 minutes to spare despite driving through snow between Guildford and Petersfield. Better early than arriving late.

It’s Funerals 2 - 2 Weddings for this family over the past 3 years and we’ve been to them all! Lovely to catch up with people and have a jolly good natter despite the sad circumstances.

Rather than dash home we’re staying overnight at the Ibis near the Guildhall in Portsmouth. We plan to visit the Historic Dockyard tomorrow.
