We did what turned out to be a round trip of Cumbria today. Starting in Lakeland for a few things . . . and an early lunch. Then to Windermere Booths for a bit of shopping. Then we drove through the Lakes, delighting in the lack of traffic on the roads.
As the A66 seemed quiet too, we went on to Carlisle, looked at how far the new road has got on and then we parked at the Superior Sewing Centre. I was looking for some advice on sewing machines (not for me!) and was astonished at the place. When I was last at the shop it was two years ago and I was buying a new machine. It was then in a tiny shop in an alleyway where there was hardly any room for all the machines and there was no parking so heavy boxes had to be carried through town.
Just after I was there last time, they moved to a huge showroom and this is it. It is amazing. I had no idea that they had so much stock of fabrics etc. alongside all the sewing machines. At the moment I am trying to use fabric that I already have but I do buy thread and bits of equipment, so it's good to know this is here.
Extra - someone seems to have their own little corner. There would certainly not have been room for that in the other shop.
