Venice (again)!

Up at 5:30, got ready then picked up Ben and off we went to Edinburgh airport for our 9:00am Ryanair flight to Venice.

Security was busy as it was Friday and schools were off for an in service day. We were through there and off to Pret for the coffee and croissants for breakfast.

We were soon asked to go to the Gate and off we went. It was a smooth flight over and very clear as we got great views of the Alps and then the approach to Venice which is stunning from the air.

Quickly through immigration and then we got our tickets for the coach at the booth in the airport and just made one leaving in 2 mins, perfect!

Alighted the bus at Piazzale Romo where you are a few steps to the wonder of the Grand Canal! Venice is unique and Ben was amazed at the sight of all the water based traffic going up and down the canal. It was good to be back.

We could have taken a vaporetto to our Guest house but it was only a 13 min walk to it in the Santa Croce area (away from the madness of St Marks area) and actually only 5 mins from where i stayed in October last year.

Our B and B was superb! It has three rooms which all have access to a beautiful central Lounge area with a kitchen off it at one end and a terrace at the front with huge windows. The owners used to live here , but have opened it up as a b and b and live further along the road in an apartment. It’s an old traditional Venetian house with huge ceilings and really the interior design by the owner is fabulous!

The well stocked fridge had plenty food for us to choose from and there was bread and coffee and juice or teas for refreshments. Plenty fresh fruit too. We met a young couple from Seattle who were on their honeymoon (for two months) touring Europe. I could only imagine the cost of that….

We unpacked and were out to explore and walked a fair bit. We decided to get a carry out pizza for Ben and eat it at our place as I wasn’t very hungry after eating the food from the fridge and some fruit.

We had an early night as needed to be up early to make the most of our short time here in beautiful Venice.
