Baking
We're running a bake off sweepstake at work. My baker was eliminated last week so it was my turn to bring in goodies. As she was knocked out in 1970s week, I found a recipe from the trusty Hamylin all colour cookbook. My copy was a birthday present in 1974.
This is my version of the German cheesecake recipe. In the book it is pale yellow with delicate piping. How you keep something pale yellow after 90 minutes in the oven, I've no idea. I suspect 1970s ovens were not as efficient as modern day ones.
I did make pistachio macarons too. In best bake off fashion, one batch did not work out very well so had to be redone.
I took over the kitchen for most of the day in the end. Enjoyed it though and caught up with a lot of podcasts when I could hear over the noise of the whisk and blender.
