European Parliament, Brussels

I went into Brussels today with Irene to meet our mutual friend Jane who works for the European Parliament. Jane met us at the station and we went for lunch to a little place called Arthur's. Arthurs is across the road from the EP and isn't just a restaurant - when you walk in, it appears to be a shop selling clothes, jewellery and nic nacs, but if you walk towards the back of the shop you'll find the tables.

Jane goes here often, and I said I wanted to go in remembrance of my dad - Arthur. Jane's granddad was also called Arthur, so we we raised a glass to them both. The food was basic but very nice and home made, and there was very relaxed atmosphere.

Anyway, we had a lovely lunch and we all bought some things from her shop before we left. I took lots of photos, but when we came out the sun was shining, so we went and sat in Place de Luxembourg overlooking the EP. We had a glass of wine and then wandered over to the Parliament buildings so I could take more photos. I like the reflections of the sky and the curves of the building, and if you look closely you'll see Jane & Irene in the left hand corner.

We've had a lovely afternoon together and I'll really miss them both when we move, but we've already got plans to meet up in London and they've said they'll come to visit us in Brighton. In fact Irene will be one of our first visitors as her and her husband Andy are coming to stay in a couple of weeks time :-)

I'll wish you all a good weekend - we're going to be busy doing tip runs and more sorting!
