Tawdry Festive Tat
As seen in the local super market and in the garden centre. Apparently 'tawdry' is a corruption of St Audrey who blamed her suffering and eventual demise from a throat condition on having had a penchant for spectacular necklaces in her youth. She became the patron saint of sufferers from throat and neck diseases. Gaudy, cheap necklaces were sold as souvenirs to pilgrims visiting her shrine and thus tawdry evolved as a corruption of St Audrey.
