Thwarted
Our bird table gave some welcome shelter to the little wren during this morning’s snowfall. It snowed quite heavily for about an hour, but the ground was wet underfoot and it didn’t lay on the ground. Compared to other parts of the country that I’ve seen on Blipfoto today, we got off very lightly. We weren’t expecting it quite so early, because the forecast had said we might see some snow on Thursday.
This afternoon I walked up to church to attend a meeting of the local historical society. I’ve never been to one of their meetings before, but I had seen a poster which said there was a talk today on the history of the large house which used to stand not far from here, and whose grounds were sold off at the turn of the 20th century for the housing development in which we live. However, when I arrived there was no sign of a meeting behing held anywhere. On querying with the church office, I was told it had taken place last Tuesday, which was a week earlier than advertised. What a shame, I had been looking forward to it and was hoping to talk to the speaker about the documents in my possession with the early map of the estate attached.
