Corbel with fag, in South Chapel of Rest
I returned to continue the photographing of the Chapels of Rest for our Condition Survey prior to taking on a lease of the buildings. I'd folded the exteriors a couple of days ago and today Val and I went inside both of the Chapels.
Once I'd finished inside, Val went home and I concentrated on the roofs, gutters and downpipes as we know there are significant problems with the traditional cotswold stone roof slates which have weathered badly as well as slipping off their mounting s leaving hold in the roof.
While I was on a mezzanine platform in the south chapel I spotted this corbel had at some time had an imitation cigarette added. I thought it would break the rather serious nature of the record to show it.
