Queenstown

The drive from Te Anau to Queenstown was spectacular.  We were surrounded all the way by verdant green pastures with pristine white sheep grazing and towering mountains, many of them snowcapped.  And then there was the last few kilometres where the road winds around the shores of Lake Wakatipu.  We took a short stroll from our apartment into the heart of the shopping precinct.  It was jam packed with tourists, many of them staying on in the city after the Queenstown  marathon that was held yesterday..  It was just glorious down by the lake this afternoon and I happened to run into the same person who I kept bumping into on the Milford Track yesterday.  The red back pack gave it away :))
