Life through the lens...

Winter waders.

166 miles to Titchwell and worth every inch.
Today was fabulous.
A good journey. Although cold it was hazy sunshine all the way.
First stop the cafe for a bowl of soup.
Vegetable, coconut and chickpeas was quite spicy and delicious.
Then a walk out to the beach. The tide was out and the beach was huge.
Plenty of waders feeding along the shoreline.
Including curlews, sanderlings, oyster catches, and turnstones.
Lots of empty razor clams and cockles.
Walking along the beach felt so good. Only saw about 6 other people.

Back to the lagoons where we saw such a huge variety of birds.
The highlight as well as avocets ( to far away for a good photo) was a Black- winged stilt. Never seen one before. So this is the first photo ( top left) on my collage.
As we walked back to the car the hazy sun was going down fast and we could see several skeins of geese flying over in the distance.

Settled into our favourite B&B.
Evening meal at the nearby pub, The Feathers in Holt.
Lovely cosy pub. Sat by the roaring wood fire and shared a delicious beef bourguinon pie. Glass of red wine. Perfect.

Great start to our winter break in North Norfolk.
