Elephant

There's an elephant in the room
A wall of grey gloom
No one mentions it

It might be grieving
Elephants do mourn
There's an elephant in the room

The weight of its sadness
The bulk of its presence
No one mentions it

Divorced from the savannah
The desert, the forest, the marshes
There's an elephant in the room

A visible volume
An unmissable mass
No one mentions it

But it's trapped in our awful zoo
It's miserable in our ridiculous circus
There's an elephant in the room
No one mentions it
