section. It was interesting to see how these were deconstructed/constructed. Also saw some intricate lace pieces, felting, upcycling with old ties and sashiko. There is something soothing about making a thing with your hands, it doesn't matter what.
The textile workshops were in the Museum of European Cultures. It's a sad sort of building tucked away into the university part of Berlin. On the weekend it feels a bit dead. In times of huge division the museum is missing a trick. There is more to Turkish and Italian culture than kebabs and gondolas. Why are these stories and more not being told and shared? Migration, climate change, over tourism and various crises driving the mass movement of people who become refugees are topical and I would love to see these stories being explored in this museum.Germany can be a bit stuck in the past like fax machines while meanwhile society has moved on to a more multicultural future. It felt like this museum despite it's good exhibits has some catching up to do.
