Nothing like a comfort monkey....
Mom was in her usual good spirits despite being in a lot of pain when I got there today. She was flat on her bed to minimize that pain. Tylenol and Ibuprofen only does so much. I had brought her a chocolate pumpkin spice doughnut and a caramel pumpkin spice doughnut. She loved the chocolate but I ended up eating the other as she didn't care for caramel. We watched some leave it to Beaver before a very good Seahawks game (we won) Because of my mom having problems swallowing, before lunch when the bed was raised - she started to cry in pain - at this point I went to the caregiver for an Oxycontin. So many reasons she shouldn't have one besides the potential for addiction - one of the side effects is making it harder to swallow - the last thing my mom needs - but the relief she gets from taking it - is worth the risk as long as someone can watch her. Chicken soup for lunch - with me cutting the noodles in half, one piece of chicken at a time and... Between her naps - we also looked at mine and other people pictures on blip. Overall a very nice day with mom.
The rest of the evening was shopping - a rant - a local store is enforcing a 15 item limit in the self checkout lane. After being told I had to many items DESPITE 4 out of 6 registers being open, I started counting the number of items I had - 16. I pleaded my case the second time as it used to be if you had 2 identical items they counted it as one - as in two for one sales... Not anymore... I then suggested that I put one can of soup in a candy box at the register and check out with 15 items - have someone else put that one thing away - at their cost - but no, I didn't do that - I went and waited 10 minutes in line for a regular register for my turn. Since I generally only get sales / coupon items anymore due to cost - I am grateful when the total went from $125 to just $75 - after all the savings I got.. Supper, play with Tiger and now some blip time...
