Eclipse

Our third dose of Pink Floyd this year. In June it was Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets at the Apollo. Last month it was David Gilmour at the Royal Albert Hall. And tonight we are back at the Apollo for our annual Aussie Floyd fix. Or, The Australian Pink Floyd Show, to give it its correct title.
No obvious anniversary this year, so we were treated to a mix of classics and some slightly less well known tracks from the likes of “The Wall” and “Animals”.
As always, the songs were executed superbly with the films and light show complementing the music perfectly - though sometimes with a uniquely Australian twist. (Yes, Skippy did put in an appearance but, because he’s featured in my last two blips about Aussie Floyd, I thought I’d go with something different this year!)
A great concert and - given that there is absolutely no chance of the original band playing together again - the closest you will get these days to attending a Pink Floyd gig.
Next year is the 50th anniversary of “Wish You Were Here” and that album will be celebrated in the TAPFS 2025 tour. Taking advantage of the QR code displayed during the interval, I have already registered for the ticket pre-sale…
