Travelling from Punakha to Paro

The pure driving time was about 4 hours, but with stops and lunch it was almost a day's programme. What's more, the average speed on the mountain roads is only around 35 kilometres per hour.

It's Saturday and we were able to watch some men practising the national sport of archery (see extra). At a distance of 145 metres, it is incredibly difficult to hit the target. One of the men made it and, in keeping with tradition, they all performed a little dance.

The main blip and the second extra is from Rinpung Dzong, a large monastery and fortress, overlooking the Paro Valley.
