The Lozarithm Lens

Avebury (Friday 15th November 2024)

My last trip to Avebury Manor NT wasn't a great success. I'd had problems getting in to the Manor because membership cards could not be read at the entrance to the Garden, so I had to queue elsewhere. I took a lot of pictures on my red K-50 that was missing a card, and got lost in the Garden and couldn't find the way out.

All this had put me off returning, not helped by the colourless weather, but a spot of blue in the sky had me returning with the hope of retaking some of the missed plants. The first Extra shows how misplaced that hope was, so my actual blip is of the adjacent St James's churchyard instead. The second shows some surviving sedums. I found my way out without problem this time.

Lozarithm's Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Joyce Harris and the Daylighters - Got My Mojo Working (1960)
Best known by Muddy Waters' version from 1957, but he had learned it from Ann Cole, a support act on his tour, with some lyric changes when he couldn't remember all the words. This version remained unreleased until 1998, but I discovered it at the end of Ethan Coen's 2024 film Drive-Away Dolls.
