Dog Days and Life

He Waits...He Listens....

However hard it is for us to lose one of our pack, we do at least as humans have the ability to understand why.

The canine pack members are different.

Ted the older Bernese was struggling yesterday, it's taken him a long time to get over the passing of the 'Street Rat' and now Teal. They were never bestest friends, not like 'Street Rat'...together they were 'Deaf and Dumb', but she was pack leader and Queen of all and everyone she surveyed. Ted sits at the bottom as the 'whipping boy' and change worrys him.

Drake was brought up by Teal and they shared many adventures and holidays together with me. He didn't seem too bad yesterday, but today he lies and turns off from the world but still listens to the sounds outside and also downstairs in case it's her coming back.

It's enough to break your heart.

Cedar and Mini beast as the youngest don't really seem too affected....too busy chasing flies and chasing each other round the garden.

The house is quiet. Even is she wasn't making a sound she could fill a room with her presence.

Tonight we went to training classes...well class really, our heelwork...'dancing' class. The three musketeers Drake, Cedar and Mini Beast Madison. Slightly cooler tonight, but still warm in the hall.

We took cake. We ate cake. We remembered. Tonight was a celebration of Teal by all that knew her well. The theme was attitude, of which she possessed bucket loads, and the tunes were Disco.

Mini Beast Madison did her first bit of heelwork at class.

She will follow well in Teal's footsteps. I'd not realised how much I missed working a Bernese and that damp dribbled on patch on my leg....a sign of the lovely close heelwork contact. She's nearly four months and already has an incredible attitude. The gundog boys could learn a thing or two!!

Cedar spent the night mooning over his would be Yorkie girlfriend (in his dreams) and dozing. Drake was equally animated....dozing and grumbling....

'Cakes are special. Every birthday, every celebration ends with something sweet, a cake, and people remember. It's all about the memories'.
