Moonrise Kingdom
The raspberry canes have arrived. Bare root things. So they needed planting out. The variety is Glen Ample - Rubus idaeus 'Glen Ample' is a spineless, summer-fruiting raspberry, bearing good yields of delicious berries from late June. Berries store well after picking. We shall see.
After an unsuccessful attempt to buy Glasto + bus package tickets I legged it along to the Starbank for a swift couple of scoops with Tam. Yes, he is a bam, btw. For we were off to see Jim Spence, football journalist, DUFC fan, ex-rector of Dundee Uni etc etc. This is part of a series of conversations with Paul Mitchell, BBC commentator who attends Wardie Church which was the venue. It was a free, but ticketed event and was sold out despite there being a few empty seats - seems that he’d had trouble from online trolls snapping them up and had to delete applications for weeks - Jim is still a hate figure for certain extreme elements of RFC after he’d made references to Rangers as "the old club that died”. Tut tut. Great evening anyway, and free biscuits too - including Jaffa cakes!
