Seeds

I've been taking quite a few pictures of grass seeds recently and the more closely I've looked, the more beauty and variations I've noticed. Today's blip is the seedhead of a stalk of grass, with some knapweed flowers - one in the background and one in the foreground, in front of the tip of the seedhead.

The picture was taken in the butterfly meadow on our local nature reserve. There was a wider range of butterflies there than I have seen for three or four years. The meadow itself was a sea of the purple knapweed and absolutely packed with bees moving from flower to flower. I was really pleased with the shots I got and it was difficult to decide which one to blip.

I was on my way back from town when I stopped. I'd been in to look at my new car. My current car has 239,000 miles on the clock and isn't going to get through its MOT next week, so after twelve years, it's time for a change.

I seem to have got quite a good deal - the car looks nice, has a good range of features and is another Volkeswagen Passat. Not new, but only four years old and only 21,000 miles on the clock. I'm hoping it will last me at least as long as the last one.

We went out for my daughter's belated birthday meal tonight. We took her out to the Royal at Horsebridge. A tiny village just on the Devon side of the Tamar. The food was brilliant and very reasonably priced. Highly recommended if you live or are on holiday around West Devon.
