The Other Side
Whew. Today was long, long and busy. For a start, I was in Morrison's earlier than usual - only by about 15 minutes, but it makes a difference. The shelves were even less stocked than usual, and the superabundance of massive crates on wheels even more in evidence - I had to ask for one to be moved and for a taller person than I am to reach over some boxes to reach the sugar for me. I was home in time to have my breakfast but not to wash up before I had to be at the computer for a zoom meeting about interviews for the rector's position - I took my elevenses coffee with me lest I had no time for it later.
And I wouldn't have: the meeting lasted longer than I'd expected and then we were off for the ferry to the other side (or Other Side) as I'd made a hair appointment and wanted my lunch in Tonino's first. I left Himself sitting over his espresso and cannolo and went next door right on the dot - for a proper short cut, as it'll have to last till after Christmas. Then we were off along the road to the shopping nirvana of Port Glasgow (it's terrible how life in the boondocks alters perception ...) for such thrilling things as a floor mop, some patio cleaner, pinhead oatmeal to supplement my monthly order which is never quite enough ... and left under a sky that had turned a moody pink with a pallid moon through the wisps of cloud.
The photo was taken at the ferry terminal as we waited for our ferry to come over. The lights on the far side of the water are in Dunoon, and look a long way away when you're tired. I just loved the light, which was in complete contrast to the pale pink morning (extra). And now, if I'm good, I may be in bed before midnight...
