Now, as I see it......

Black Boys Inn

An early Blip today because we are going to see the new 'Paddington' film later (I know, but we enjoyed 'Paddington 2' so thought we'd give this a go even though the reviews aren't great!).  This morning W wanted to have a look in the bookshop at Blickling Hall so first we drove down to Aylsham for a little wander round.  A pleasant little town with some nice shops but it probably only takes about fifteen minutes before you're pretty sure you've seen everything.

This is the 'Black Boys Inn' in town; an imposing building on the Market Place.  Apparently the name came from King Charles II who was known as the 'Black Boy' due to his black hair and swarthy complexion.

I was sad to hear of the death of Roy Haynes yesterday, at 99 years old.  Roy was a Jazz drummer who, during his career, played with some of the greats of Jazz including Lester Young, Charlie Parker, Stan Getz, Miles Davis and Sarah Vaughan, to name but a few.  We were lucky enough to see him at the Village Vanguard Club in New York when he was in his 80's and he played a superb and energetic set.
