There Must Be Magic

Water: Life Is But a Dream / Strange Geometries

My husband and I had dentist appointments in Philipsburg in the early afternoon. The last time I was there, back in July, I was being fitted for a crown. It was a relief to know that this appointment would only be for a cleaning and exam. All went well. There's nothing that needs to be addressed. We are both done with dentists for the year, which is a thing well worth celebrating!

We stopped for about 20 minutes at the Cold Stream Dam, which is a place we used to hang out a LOT in the early days. Back then, he lived in Philipsburg and I lived in State College. We took turns driving back and forth.

Cold Stream is much more fancy than it was back then, and we strolled around and looked at the dam and the spillway; enjoyed the reflections; said hello to two old dudes feeding the geese along the side.

I stood up top and took a bunch of weird water abstracts. There is one in the extras. I call it Strange Geometries. It just worked out strangely, but somehow pleased me. So here it is.

From there, we went through Port Matilda and picked up some hoagies at Lykens Market. Tuesday's special is the cold cut combo, so we tossed two of those in the cooler. While my husband went in and ordered them, I walked over to a tiny park in town that I'd never visited before.

The park was very nice, sort of tucked into a space that is on the small side. It has a pretty bridge, a pavilion, a ball field, children's play equipment. The best part was the access that it gave me to Bald Eagle Creek.

You've seen lots of photos from Bald Eagle Creek on my pages, usually at Soaring Eagle Wetland, which is just a bit upstream from this. And of course, there was that whole thing with the purloined purple glove and the door by the tree by the railroad track. That all took place along Bald Eagle Creek as well.

Anyway, I enjoyed the way the water surface was twisting the reflections of the trees. There are some colorful leaves tossed in as well. You know how I am for my water abstracts, so here are TWO of them for this day!

Now, we need some music. As I was making the image above, my brain was sort of singing Merrily merrily merrily merrily, life is but a dream. But the song I want for this image is Maggie Wheeler, with Michael Row. And for the strange and angular geometries in the extra photo, I've got John Oates, with The Shape of Things to Come, from one of my favorite 80s films, About Last Night.
