Autumn
I was out of the house at about 8 am. It was cold, and there was condensation on the windows. The plastic recycling had been out overnight and had yet to be collected. Already, a layer of leaves covered the box, which had fallen overnight; it was like snow with yellow and brown leaves—wonderful autumn colours. The pavement in front of the house is right under the tree, and there's been a lot of leaf fall.
I walked to the Co-op to buy ingredients for a curry we'll have tonight and, hopefully, freeze some for next week. It's another slow-cooker recipe. In recent weeks, I have been making big pots of food on Tuesdays that can last us for a few days. Frying onions in a curry paste before 9 am is not the most breakfast-like thing, but watching the pot improve throughout the day is nice. And I used a lot of vegetables out of the cupboard.
After work, I decided to walk to Wimbledon Chase to meet PY from the train, picking up some bits we needed at Tesco while I waited. On the way back, he phoned the chemist who gave me a flu jab on Saturday and arranged an immediate walk-in. Strangely, they were not receptive to it when we went in person yesterday, but all was good today.
The curry was good, but there was a lot of it. It will use all the Tupperware to freeze it.
After dinner, we booked our flights to Edinburgh for Christmas. Flights and planes will all be busy, and I looked at various combinations. In the end, the fact that I have two BA vouchers and one must be redeemed by March meant that I could get good flights with full baggage allowance mainly for points plus each-way fees. I think this is a bargain given everything was quoting hundreds of pounds, but we must get to London City on the way out, which means crossing London on one of the last shopping days before Santa arrives.
