One daze at a time...

Far far away from the Vendee Globe Challenge.
I was watching that fine TV movie (there is such a thing, didn't know till yesterday) "Seul" on the French telly yesterday (via the use of a VPN and a pragmatic approach to truth when it comes to my postal code...)
Wow.
It's the story of Yves Parlier who broke his mast during the 2000 Vendee Global Challenge and managed to repair it on his own, with a bit of sticky tape and much swearing.
He refused to abandon the race and could not get any kind of external assistance for fear of disqualification.
And he managed to get it up, on his own.*

So that he could pursue the race and get to experience life-threatening malnutrition.

Mad stuff. Great to watch. And there was I thinking that sailing is mostly about boiling the kettle while safely tied to a pontoon and eating Mimi Cake.

* unlike the bishop, who required the assistance of the actress
