All day at the industry conference. It was quite interesting. AI was the focus. I note that an analogy with the industrial revolution was made, instead of the factory floor where raw materials go in in one end and finished products come out the other, raw data go into the AI models and something comes out. Interestingly no mention was made of the factory workers that operated the machines. Similarly, today the click workers are forgotten. A particularly interesting talk was by the head of the cybercrime unit of the federal police. The number that stuck in my head was that the total damage done last year was 267 billion euros. Quite a big number. Cybercriminals are also professionalising, with different groups doing different parts of the crimes.
After the event we went for a nice wander into town and stopped for some tea.
