Canal du Midi - Day 5
Lovely cruising along the Canal with the captain, Laurent at the wheel.
The canal was started in 1666, is 249km long, and runs from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean, initially intended to develop the wheat trade, and is one of the earliest canals in Europe.
We stopped and had a trip to Pezenas, a lovely medieval town, before back to the barge for lunch and an introduction to our first set of locks!
