Over Yonder

Family Ties

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellow,

Sam from Project Gromit (CST) was back in town! I have not seen him since June 2022.

His arrival into Wellington from his home in Auckland prompted a lot of excitement. And so I organised for a group curry night, getting most* of the old gang back together.

We all love Sam. He's such a kind, warm, friendly person. Everyone who could make it came out to see him.

It was a lovely evening of old friends who feel more like family now. Augmented by the arrival of Suni, Corrie's son and Aubrey, Ellie's daughter.

Jefe, who loves kids, did his best. He was trying to get Aubrey to high-five him. However, for reasons unknown, she seemed to find him terrifying and hid behind Ellie every time he did it. He ended up sprawled on the floor in front of Ellie, with Aubrey shrieking (but mainly in laughter at the Silly Man).

To be fair to Jefe, he'd been at the pub with Losi and Manda since 3.30pm.

It was a hilarious evening of fun and p*ss-taking as always. But there were hugs and emotion at the end. I really do love all of these people. We've somehow developed a special bond that goes beyond colleagues or friends.

It feels like a family.

S.

* No Briarrrr or April, they were gutted they couldn't make it.
