Last morning in Peekskill
This morning we packed ready to leave Peekskill and catch the train back to New York. Standard House had caught my eye the first day so today I went up close. Built in 1885 in the Italianate style, it was part of Peekskill's industrial height in the manufacture of stoves. With the decline of the rail roads mid last century it fell into neglect. Then at the start of this century it was restored and is now on the National Register of Historic Houses.
We weren't in a hurry to catch the train and spent some time at the edge of the water of the Hudson River, watching the ducks, gulls and geese, and the trains going to and coming back from upstate New York.
Now we are in the hotel on the last night of our holiday. Catch you up on the other side.
