Riverbank houses in Besançon

Besançon is the capital of the Franche-Comté province in the French Jura. This is where Victor Hugo and the Lumière brothers were born.
The Doubs River flows across this old historical town. Like in the neighboring province of Bugundy, some of the rooftops are covered with colorful tiles like on La Madeleine Church on this picture.
