Dunstanburgh Castle - three ways
No one was prepared to host the old walking group, now only supper club, tonight, so Chris suggested we meet at Embleton golf club for breakfast at 9.30 instead. Mr C and I were the only ones who turned up. We had a fried egg on a bap with Chris. Ailie had intended to come but felt tired after her Covid jab, Katy (10 years younger than us) forgot and Sarah (20 years younger) went to the wrong golf club. We did chuckle. I told Katy there would be no excuse next year as she’ll have the naked calendar (she features twice) where she can write down all her engagements. Mr C wondered if she’d remember to look at it - he’s guilty of forgetting that.
Chris had taken the dogs down to the beach before we got there so went home but Mr C and I decided to walk to Newton by the sea, then I suggested we continued to see the tin tabernacle (Tweedy it was all grey - my memory of it was green?) then on out to the cordoned-off MOD buildings on Newton Point. Mr C used to have to “guard” this on military exercise 45 years ago. We took the coastal path back. We only did 5 miles but it was nice to be out. It was mostly dull and overcast though we escaped the mizzle. By the time we got back to the car the beach was busy with the Boden and Barbour brigade. (Northumberland features often in the Sunday supplements now).
I’m going to sew up the sleeves and side seams of the coat today. I hope it fits.
We watched Shetland last night. I like the two women and don’t miss Perez a bit
