To Rigmaden
I'm not really a fan of running somewhere, just to run back again. Although, as the Minx rightly pointed out, you do get to look at things from a different angle.
Today I needed to get in seven and a half miles, and, as I don't have a run of that distance locally, I decided that I'd simply go out towards Rigmaden and turn back after 3.75 miles.
I was saying to my friend, Chris, recently, that sometimes I feel like Kirkby has become too 'full' for me: too many memories, really. Not necessarily bad ones - they are, thankfully, in the minority - but just everywhere seems invested in meaning.
Even the first part of the run I did today is a stretch that I've been doing for well over twenty years. And I went past Underley Farm, where we lived for five years when we first moved here, then Nether Hill Farm, where the girls lived for four years when I was divorced, and on toward Rigmaden, where my friends Janice and Chris lived.
I didn't get quite as far as their house, though, and today's Blip is where I turned back, just short of Rigmaden Hall. And, actually, all credit to the Minx, running out and back wasn't too bad.
In other news, my Theremin arrived (see Extra).
