Leaf

I went down the road to get the car and this leaf was stuck to the windscreen, its skeletal profile resembling some ancient fish fossil.

Autumn is rapidly giving way to a fully formed winter.

Assembled a new couch from IKEA. Prompted an idea for a Guardian alternative to blind date where two people have to assemble an ikea purchase before they are allowed to eat, flirt and whatever. Theory being that IKEA flat packs test relationships to breaking point.  Ms R observed TSM and I putting the couch together and was impressed with our communication skills and emotional intelligence under pressure. But we have had thirty years of practice,
The finished couch is so much more comfortable than the old one., looks good (see extra) and fits me like a glove.

Went to the BBC (Booker Book Club) tonight. Excellent evening. Only a handful of us but very funny conversation, great food, and got to try a new cocktail (The 75). General consensus that James by Percival Everett would win although I nominated Orbital by Samantha Harvey as my favourite.
