Bosham channel with Bosham on the horizon

A fine day walking, bird watching and taking photographs on the isolated coastal landscape of the Chidham peninsula which is part of Chichester Harbour Site of Special Scientific Interest.

The peninsula is bounded on the west by Thorney Channel, on the east by Bosham Channel and on the south by Chichester Channel. The weather was the same as it has been for what seems like eternity. It was difficult to tell sea from sky!

We saw a stonechat, bar tailed godwit, dark bellied brent geese, curlews, oyster catchers, teal, egrets, redshanks, goldfinches, meadow pipit and robins to mention just a few feeding on the mud on the channel banks.

We planned to stop at the First and Last pub in Chidham but that was full with reservations. So we moved on to ended up eating at Stansted House where we had an excellent soup.

Back to our friends for an early dinner ready for tonight’s gig at the Portsmouth Guildhall where the Longest Johns are performing in support of Bellowhead.

What a gig it was. From the first note of the Longest Johns to the last crescendo from Bellowhead I wore a big smile on my face. We were on our feet with everyone else for the last set of tunes. Now my ears hiss and my hands are sore.

It was almost 2 years ago we last saw Bellowhead, on their Reunion tour - the night our granddaughter Madison was born. This tour was to celebrate 20 years of Bellowhead.
