Barbara Hepworth
A morning visit to The Hepworth, Wakefield. Barbara Hepworth, one of this country’s greatest sculptors, was born and brought up in the town, a mile or so from the building by the River Calder. It’s a place I like a lot.
I am going to have to return. Half the galleries were closed, being prepared for new exhibitions, and I had a message from my sister in law that they were arriving at the hotel a lot earlier than I had anticipated, so no walk into Wakefield town centre. Instead, I returned and had another tour of Barnsley town centre. We all agreed it is faring remarkably well. C was excited to see places she remembered well, and which have survived.
