Birds Fly South Across the Autumn Skies

This isn't the photo I wanted today 

The photo I wanted was thousands of migrating geese, and  it would have had to be audible too. 

I spotted them as I left for work.   At least 500 in two V's  above  our estate.   As I drove towards work , only 4 miles down the road, I realised that  more were gathering together - there are two fields outside the town where the birds seem to stop off in to rest up before theyhead on off to where they are going to. 

The sky actually darkened like a big cloud - they were coming from North, East, West, and all gathering, but defifnitely heading South all together. 

I'm sad I didn't get a photo - i was driving on a busy road,    I did take care and only look up every so often.  but it was an amazing sight. I wish there had been a bit for me to stop off in and watch.
