It’s a lazy morning for me before my appointment at the Royal this afternoon. Somehow the required contortions of yesterday’s procedure (nothing’s ever simple) have resulted in a pulled muscle in my back, so I turn down Solveig’s invitation to join them in this morning’s ‘Baby Sign Language’ class, leaving G to go. I must admit to being completely ignorant of its existence pre Lili, but Solveig uses signs with her and she seems to understand. https://www.thebump.com/a/how-to-teach-baby-sign-language
There are so many baby classes in the area - great both for socialising Lili and to give support to Solveig as a new mum; the tea and biscuit interactions are valuable in themselves. I missed out on all this, having returned to work when each of the boys reached three months - but there again, I don’t think there was much provision in our area, at least back then.
On to the Royal. This time it’s the Breast Clinic - a new department for me. Up till now I’ve had this specialism back at home, but my Liverpool ‘team’ feel it will be easier to liaise with specialists in the same Trust. I suspect this will not be a quick appointment, but I’m not really expecting to be there for three and a half hours! Still, as always, the staff are lovely - especially the radiology team who perform the biopsies and who are caring and gentle, keeping me chatting to distract me!
Meanwhile, G has been wandering around Liverpool - we’ve long given up on him attending appointments with me - and he messages me to tell me he has a G&T and M&S sushi waiting for me when I’ve finished! Bless him!
And so we eventually make our way home through Friday night rush hour traffic - thankfully not as bad as we’d feared - and I just collapse in a heap in front of the TV!
Today’s blip is a pair of adjacent webs on the garden shed - with some faffing as I felt colour was definitely needed today!
