LOOKING FOR LUNCH
I drove to the Horicon Marsh today...about an hour or so southwest of my village. I thought I might find a few geese that have stayed a bit longer than usual on their migration south. Horicon is the largest cattail marsh in the United States and there's often hundreds of thousands of geese and ducks that fatten up there for the flight south. Not today.....I saw only a handful of small grebes and not a single goose or duck....no married ones either, ROFL!

This Great Egret (Ardea alba) was all that I found...and I suspect it will be gone soon. The snow is generally flying around here toward the end of November and, once frozen over, it's tough to catch a fish meal through the ice. Rough on the beak too.
