Big Red

I occasionally hear red bellied woodpeckers calling in the woods but I rarely see them until they fly in for suet snacks during late fall and winter. This is the first sighting of Big Red! Isn’t he beautiful? • A windy overcast day with brief showers forecasted for this afternoon. Still no significant rain in sight. I read yesterday that nearly 2/3 of Maine is experiencing drought conditions. Amazing when I think of the excess rain we received in 2023 • I packed the last two chairs away in the shed and put out the snow shovels. Yep, I said it! I also may have put the Harris/Walz sign in the window of the shed making it visible from our driveway. I don’t know how long I’ll leave it there but for now it makes me happy :) • Peace & Love
