Stane Street

We came across this sign at the beginning of our walk along part of the South Downs Way today. Apparently Stane Street  is the modern name for the 57 mile long Roman Road linking Londinium and Noviomagnus Reginorum (Chichester).
We enjoyed our walk en route to visit friends in Emsworth for a couple of nights.
